Y Pant Comprehensive in Pontyclun is a mixed comprehensive school for pupils from eleven to eighteen years of age which is receiving a £24m upgrade of facilities. The investment in the Pontyclun school will see some existing buildings, and all temporary mobile classrooms, being replaced with brand new 21st Century facilities.
The project will see a new 8,750-square-metre teaching block built to allow for an expansion to 1,600 pupils in the future, and will include a refurbishment of the existing drama black and sports hall.
The main 1950s block will be demolished, along with the temporary classrooms buildings – which currently make up 25% of the school’s classrooms.
The school’s outside play areas, parking facilities and main entrance will be upgraded.
